Mel Crystal, CPA, CGMA,is a practitioner with over 40 years experience. He is a member of the New York State Society of CPAs since 1970 and has served on many committees throughout the years. Most recently he served on the Peer Review Committee from 1990 to 1997 and from June 2008 to the present; eleven terms on the New York State Society Professional Ethics Committee, five as an assistant chair from 1997 to 2008. He has presented the New York State Professional Ethics course as well as Peer Review performance courses.
An integral part of his practice includes technical support to the accounting profession on auditing and accounting matters as well as Peer Review preparations and consultations. Mr. Crystal has worked for international, regional and local CPA firms allowing him to relate to a wide audience. His article “Food for Thought” in the January 2005 CPA Journal has generated extensive discussion on the state of our profession. His letter to the Editor in the January 2011 CPA Journal addressed the need for transparency in the Peer Review process.
He has presented in excess of 1500 continuing professional education courses throughout the country since 1992, including many in-house programs.
He is a member of the AICPA, NYSSCPA, NJSCPA and NCCPAP and Accountants Club of America.
Alan Suskind, CPA, is a practitioner with over 40 years of experience. He began his career working for the CPA firm of Julius Lefkowitz and Company which was then formed into Wallin, Simon, Black and Company in the 1980s. His years’ of experience has given him extensive knowledge in the areas of business management and taxation. His clientele has primarily consisted of corporations and individuals in the Television, Motion Picture, Literary and the Broadway Legitimate theater industries as well as high net worth individuals. These have included actors, writers, producers, directors, lecturers, artists, musicians, talent agents and talent agencies. He has determined that the key to success is the trust and friendship developed with the clients. He also has extensive experience dealing with tax examinations at both the Federal and State levels.
He is a member of the New York State Society of CPAS, AICPA and a NYS Notary Public.
Alan Dworkin, CPA, CGMA, is a practitioner with over 30 years of experience. He has spent extensive time in both the public and private sectors where he has worked with companies ranging in size from small local businesses to international corporations as controller of the William Morris Agency, Inc. and as a consultant to Ernst & Young and Prudential Financial. Through his diversified background he gained expertise in the areas of financial accounting, taxation, auditing, and budgeting and business management. He is a Peer Review Team Captain. Mr. Dworkin has spoken before a number of groups on changes to the Accounting Pronouncements and Tax Laws.
He is a member of the AICPA, NJSCPA, NYSSCPA, FICPA, NATP and NCCPAP.
